      <image:title>Therapy for Anxiety</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Approach to Anxiety Therapy We make sure to fully understand the whole person, not just their anxiety. This allows your clinician to see what is working for you and what isn’t. We pride ourselves on meeting the client where they are. A person-centered approach is the core of our practice. More often than not, we might hold on to things that are bothering us, and that can manifest into physical and emotional symptoms. By talking it through with a licensed provider, you can empower yourself to feel better overall. Learning new ways to cope is a crucial part of this process, and we are here to help! Our anxiety therapists utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to better understand the root causes of your symptoms. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows us to look at core beliefs about ourselves, which are a person’s most central ideas about themselves, others and the world. We see all of our life experiences through this lens, and for some people, that can be maladaptive. By understanding those beliefs, we also have the ability to work on them and change them if we see fit. Understanding your own core beliefs allows you to also understand where your thoughts are coming from. These can be automatic thoughts that are triggered by stress. In addition, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can help to expand your toolbox of coping skills. DBT covers 4 different topic areas, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. In each of those 4 areas, there are specific hands-on, concrete skills that can help you to manage your symptoms and take control of your life. These skills can be very helpful in the treatment of anxiety. Mindfulness is all about being able to stay in the present moment, which can be very difficult with anxiety. Mindfulness skills set the foundation for all the other areas of DBT skills. Leaving each therapy session feeling as though you are equipped to deal with the stress you are faced with in the real world can give you a sense of empowerment over your life. We are here to be a part of that journey, in giving you all the skills you need. Yoga and Nutrition can also be beneficial in your journey to heal your anxiety.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Therapy for Depression</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Approach To Depression Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be a very helpful tool when you are receiving therapy for Depression in Westchester. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a form of talk therapy that focuses on our thoughts and behaviors. It looks at how those two are connected and where we can make changes to help ourselves feel better. It works on not only changing thinking patterns, but also behavioral patterns. CBT is based on several core principles, including: Psychological problems are based, in part, on faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking. Psychological problems are based, in part, on learned patterns of unhelpful behavior. People suffering from psychological problems can learn better ways of coping with them, thereby relieving their symptoms and becoming more effective in their lives What is CBT helpful for? learning to recognize cognitive distortions problem solving difficult situations developing confidence in oneself facing fears learning how to feel calm and at peace A cognitive distortion is an irrational thought pattern that can in itself lead to feelings of depression. Sometimes with depression, you can feel like you are stuck on a loop of irrational thoughts and although you might know what the truth to be, it feels impossible to get yourself out of it. In therapy we will begin by looking at the symptoms you are currently experiencing, as well as any major life stressors that might be occurring at this point in time. If you want, we will set small weekly goals that can help to feel as though there is forward progress.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Therapy for Teens</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Approach To Therapy For Teens There is so much to deal with when you are going through your teenage years. From friendships, to school, to getting along with parents, to puberty! You can then magnify that with all the pressure you might feel to be successful, then throw in social media and peer pressure. Teen therapy can be a useful tool and outlet. We are not one size fits all. The biggest thing about finding the right teen therapist is someone that you can really talk to, without feeling like you are holding anything back. We will take time to build that relationship to make your teen feel comfortable to open up. Aside from having an outlet, we want to make sure that your teen leaves their session with the tools they need for the real world. We may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy throughout our sessions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help us further explore things like self-esteem and anxiety. It can help get to the root cause that has to do with our beliefs about ourselves. DBT, or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, can really allow teens to build their toolboxes of skills. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy covers 4 main topic areas including Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness. You can read more about DBT here. Although your teen does not need any diagnosis to attend therapy, here are the areas of mental health that we are comfortable working with. If there is something that you don’t see below, please do not hesitate to give us a call to discuss. Stress ADHD School issues Parent conflict Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Trauma and PTSD Grief Substance use Self-harm Anxiety Depression Self-esteem and self-worth Bullying Mood Disorders Adjustments and life transitions We are happy to set up a consultation with you to see if we are the right fit for your teen. It is so important for both the client and parent or caregiver to feel comfortable with the relationship with your Teen Therapist in Westchester.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ADHD Therapy and Coaching</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Approach To ADHD Therapy Therapy for an individual with ADHD is two-fold. One part is addressing the executive functioning skills. This includes looking at schedules, methods of organization, and study/work habits. We can delve further into those areas and decide what is working and what isn’t, and offer suggestions to improve. This can be hugely helpful in creating a structure that works, and is based off of the individual. For children and adolescents, we will also discuss school based accommodations. Your therapist can be in contact with the child’s school in order to help assist in getting appropriate interventions in place. For adults, this area might also include helping to find a work-life balance. This can be so challenging for people with ADHD, and more often than not that can come from an over-achiever mindset. Your therapist can help with finding the happy, healthy balance you are looking for. The second part is addressing the emotional component of ADHD. One of the often overlooked symptoms of ADHD is emotion dysregulation. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to understand one’s beliefs about themselves can be a useful tool. This can set up the framework for coming up with a toolbox of coping skills to use when our emotions become too intense. We can also equip you with some DBT, or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills. DBT covers four topic areas including mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. Utilizing this set of skills in addition to other types of coping skills can help to combat the emotion dysregulation that comes with ADHD. Our Approach To ADHD Coaching ADHD Coaching is most commonly used for parents or loved ones of someone that has ADHD. ADHD Coaching can help to provide the framework for a better understanding of the individual with ADHD. Your ADHD Coach can give you an in-depth look into executive functioning skills, emotions, thoughts and behaviors. Sometimes living with someone with ADHD can cause conflict and stress and occasionally we might recommend more intensive therapy to our coaching clients. This is something we will discuss with you throughout our work together. Another way we can utilize coaching is for those individuals who have done the therapeutic work they need to do, are utilizing their Cognitive Behavioral Therapy knowledge, using their DBT skills as needed but still might need some assistance with staying on course with their goals. We can set you up with a coaching plan to manage your ADHD and work with you to keep you accountable and on track with your personal goals.</image:caption>

<image:caption>LGBTQ Family Therapy Has your child or loved one recently come out to you and you don’t know the right things to say? You want to be supportive but you feel like you are walking on eggshells during a really sensitive time? Maybe you see just how brave that person is and how hard it was for them to talk about their feelings about gender identity and sexuality? You might want to talk over your own feelings with a therapist or talk together in a family session about how you might be supportive. You might want a better understanding of using your loved one’s pronouns. This might be all new territory for you, and that’s okay. As LGBTQ Affirming Therapists in Westchester, we are here to help you. Our Approach To LGBTQ Family Therapy LGBTQ Family Therapy can be utilized in two ways. This can look like supportive therapy for a family member or loved one of someone in the LGBTQ community. It is important for loved ones to have a Gay Friendly therapist for psycho-education purposes as well as support. We can also facilitate Family Therapy sessions. This would include at least the client and LGBTQ family member, and can also be the entire family. We will structure these sessions around current stressors and topics that need to be discussed. An important component of Family Therapy is setting ground rules. This underlines the basic rules of respect that will be followed in a Family Therapy session.</image:caption>
